As
I Sailed Out To Sea
~~~~~
I
dreamed I sailed a giant ship
Across a moonlit sea,
And all of my childhood dreams came true
As I sailed out to sea.
~~~
We
rode the rolling white capped waves
Onto the darkened sea,
And set our sails for lands unknown
As I sailed out to sea.
~~~
Then
from the west a mighty storm
Came down upon the sea,
The thunder rolled as the clouds grew bigger;
And the lightening struck at me.
~~~
The
great black clouds and rolling waves
Lashed out and came at me,
While the roaring wind gathered all of its strength
And fought with me and the sea.
~~~
Our
sails were strewn and torn apart,
And our anchors gave away;
While the terrible storm raged on and on
And forced our helm to give way.
~~~
The
sky was black and heavy with fog
When out of the mist there came
A beautifully laden emerald green ship,
But the side of her hull bore no name.
~~~
Forward
she sailed and straight forward be
'Til the fog had unveiled the sea;
And closer she came 'til the image we saw
Was a woman with a babe on her knee.
~~~
She
held her head high as proudly she sat
With her babe upon her knee;
She said not a word as she passed me by
As I sailed out to sea.
