This valentine poem was written by request for a nurse who works with children, some of whom are terminally ill.  Each Valentine's Day she creates cards to be given to each child under her care, as if, coming from their mother.  She acknowledged that this will be the last Valentine some of these children ever receive.  For some, perhaps, the last token of affection they ever experience.

Is there a child, an adult, anyone, in your life that needs a Valentine?
Is there anyone in your life that needs more love?

The years that I have mothered you,

The years that youíve been mine,

As true as Godís in Heaven,

Youíre my favorite Valentine.

With every beat, my heart should make,

With every ache I feel,

Please know, within your precious heart,

My love for you is real.

No matter, all the Valentines,

This life, we give and share,

No matter, words we write inside,

That say how much we care,

No matter what our future holds,

You always will be mine,

As true as Godís in Heaven,

Youíre my favorite Valentine.
