Winner Always Loses

Why are we so quick to judge
Before we know the truth—
When honesty’s a long lost word
And explanations are never heard…
Our innocence so quickly sold
For facts which yet are still untold
And blame that’s often laid to rest
On shoulders of those closest?

Why is it we strike out
At those we care the most about—
When we don’t really want to fight
And it makes no difference who is right…
We forge a battle that can’t be won
When all is over, said, and done
And angry words have left their mark
The winner always loses!
