A Romantic Tale

Thundering hooves
from a racing steed
Autumn leaves
awaken
Midnight skies
and a slivery moon
bask in this world
forsaken.

And yet, this traveler
races on
weaving between the
Trees
Mastering, the winding course, ahead
Flowing like the
breeze.

He sees the castle
in the clearing
towering above the
land
With flags unfurled
upon the spires
a fortress against a
man!

He charges up
onto the gate.
the night-watchman's fast
asleep.
He tethers his steed
and scales the walls
and strides within the
Keep!

On-ward he goes
into the night
swiftly he moves
ahead
He climbs the walls
and risks his life,
with each footstep, that he
treads.

Then he sees
a shimmering light,
that glows within a
room
A ray of hope
shines in his heart
and washes away the
gloom!

He finds his Maiden, waiting.
with a smile
that warms his
soul
And wastes no time
to hold her
to hold his life-long
goal
